Pension payments will be suspended: who will have to confirm their identity

Ukrainians have been informed about who and in what cases may have their pension payments suspended.

In Ukraine, an updated system for the payment of pensions and social assistance is in place. Since February, banks are required to regularly provide the Pension Fund with data on which recipients have confirmed their identity and which have not.

This monitoring system helps to identify cases when:

• pensions have been received through trusted persons for over a year
• people do not confirm their identity
• there have been no transactions (purchases, withdrawals) in the pension accounts for a long time

In the event of such situations, the account is temporarily blocked – money stops being credited to it.

To restore payments, the retiree must confirm that it is indeed them:

• visit the bank in person
• complete video identification online

The purpose of these measures is to ensure that the pension is received by the person entitled to it by law.

Earlier, Ukrainians were informed about the conditions for receiving a new supplement.
