Ukrainian doctors to undergo internship in Korea: details of the new program

According to hvylya.net: Health Minister Viktor Lyashko held a meeting with representatives of the South Korean international charity organization Good Friends International (GFI) to strengthen cooperation in the healthcare sector, primarily in rehabilitation and the implementation of humanitarian medical projects.
According to the Ministry of Health, during the negotiations, the parties agreed to start preparing to sign a memorandum of cooperation. It is planned that one of the key areas of future cooperation will be the exchange of experience in rehabilitation. In particular, there was talk about the possibility of training Ukrainian doctors in South Korean medical institutions with the aim of exchanging practical experience in organizing rehabilitation assistance.
In this context, the prospects for implementing modern approaches to treating patients with combat injuries were also discussed, particularly using digital solutions for therapy of post-traumatic disorders.
Health Minister Viktor Lyashko thanked the South Korean partners for their consistent support of Ukraine and the assistance provided since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
Support from GFI
The GFI organization has been actively working in Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion and is already implementing a number of initiatives in Ukraine aimed at supporting the healthcare system and assisting those affected by the war.
In total, in 2024–2025, GFI provided medical supplies and equipment worth over 2.7 million dollars, supported eight hospitals in the most affected regions, and launched a program for treating combat injuries with the support of the government of the Republic of Korea.
The Ministry of Health of Ukraine continues systematic work on the development of rehabilitation assistance and the implementation of modern approaches in the medical field. Cooperation with Good Friends International should be another step towards strengthening the ability of the Ukrainian healthcare system to respond to the challenges of war and ensure quality health recovery for patients (both military and civilian) according to the best global standards,' the ministry emphasized.
Representatives of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the international charitable organization Good Friends International agreed to sign a memorandum of cooperation in the field of healthcare and rehabilitation. This cooperation is aimed at improving the quality of medical care and exchanging experience between Ukrainian and South Korean specialists.
