Corruption in drones for the front: SBU and BEB revealed the chief financier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for embezzling UAH 2 million

According to glavcom.ua: The Military Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine, together with the Bureau of Economic Security, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and the command of the Ground Forces, have uncovered a criminal scheme for embezzling defense funds. An official from one of the brigades in the Kyiv region used money intended for the purchase of drones.

This brigade utilizes unmanned aerial systems for reconnaissance and fire adjustment in northern Ukraine. However, the official entered into contracts with a company owned by a friend at inflated prices, embezzling millions of hryvnias intended for drones.

Currently, an investigation is underway to establish all circumstances of the crime and bring those guilty to justice.

Law enforcement has confirmed the facts of embezzlement, conducted searches with the suspects. The main suspects have been notified of their suspicion under part 5 of article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which could lead to up to 12 years of imprisonment and confiscation of property.

Ukrainian law enforcement has identified and halted a criminal scheme that exploited defense funds for personal gain, creating a threat to the national security of the country. The investigation can help prevent similar cases in the future and strengthen public trust in the Ukrainian military and law enforcement agencies.
