Christian Chivu’s Success at Inter Milan

According to Главком: Inter Milan head coach Christian Chivu has secured the Serie A championship, equaling a milestone previously achieved by José Mourinho and other managers. He becomes the fifth coach in the Nerazzurri’s history to win the Scudetto in his debut season. The list of those who accomplished this before him includes:

  • Árpád Weisz,
  • Alfredo Foni,
  • Giovanni Invernizzi,
  • José Mourinho.

Chivu also becomes the first foreign manager since 2010 to claim Italy’s top-flight title, as every Scudetto winner in that span had been an Italian tactician.

Coaching Achievements in Serie A

Since 2010, only Italian coaches have won the league, including:

  • Massimiliano Allegri – six titles,
  • Antonio Conte – five titles,
  • Maurizio Sarri, Stefano Pioli, Luciano Spalletti, and Simone Inzaghi – one title each.

Chivu, who played under Mourinho at Inter from 2008 to 2010, won two Scudettos, the Coppa Italia, the Supercoppa Italiana, and the Champions League during that period.

Separately, Diego Simeone has reached the milestone of 1,000 matches as a manager. The Argentine took charge of Atlético Madrid in December 2011 and will celebrate 15 years at the helm of the Spanish giants this year. Meanwhile, Inter plans to bring an Italian goalkeeper back from England, as Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario is expected to join the Nerazzurri in the summer and become the starting goalkeeper.

This achievement by Christian Chivu highlights the growing influence of foreign coaches in Serie A, especially given the recent dominance of Italian tacticians.

Chivu, a former Inter player, has not only revived the club’s winning traditions but also injected fresh energy into the squad. Alongside Inter’s success, Diego Simeone’s longevity underscores the stability and long-term effectiveness of coaching strategies in modern football, making this era particularly compelling for sports fans.

As Chivu celebrates his remarkable achievement, Inter Milan is also making significant moves in the transfer market, with the anticipated arrival of Tottenham's goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario. This strategic decision highlights the club's commitment to building a competitive squad for the upcoming season, further enhancing their prospects after this historic title win.
