The dollar rate sets another historical record on May 21, 2026
The National Bank of Ukraine has set a new historical maximum of the official dollar rate. As of May 21, the American currency has risen to 44.22 hryvnias, exceeding the previous record set in March. This is reported by the National Bank of Ukraine.
The dollar rate has broken the record again
According to the official data from the NBU, the dollar rate on Thursday, May 21, is set at 44.22 UAH. This is 7 kopecks more than the previous day.
The previous historical maximum was held since March 13, 2026. At that time, the official rate was 44.16 UAH per dollar.
The euro also continues to rise. The official exchange rate of the European currency has increased to 51.30 UAH.
What exchange rates will be in effect on May 21
The National Bank has set the following official rates:
- US Dollar — 44.22 UAH
- Euro — 51.30 UAH
Financial analysts link the pressure on the hryvnia to an increase in demand for currency, import costs, and the overall situation in the economy during the war.
At the same time, the official NBU rate does not always fully coincide with the cash market, where banks and exchange offices can set their own quotations.
