According to glavcom.ua: Latvian basketball player Davis Bertans refused to play against Russian teams in the VTB Super Cup tournament. He does not wish to participate in competitions organized by an aggressor country. The tournament in Belgrade promises to be interesting, but for Bertans, principles are paramount.
I talked to the coach of the 'Dubai' team and the general manager, expressed my opinion. They supported me. I will not play in tournaments involving teams from the aggressor country. Given who is organizing the tournament, I don't even want to play against 'Crvena Zvezda'. The team fully supported me.
Also, in the news front, the victory of Russian athlete Yana Egoryan in the fencing world championship has been highlighted. Her victory in Tbilisi sparks discussion, as Egoryan actively supports a sanctioned Russian public movement that operates even in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. This news will definitely have a continuation and will evoke various reactions in the sports world.
