Only in 2 years: which professions will accumulate enough for their own apartment in Ukraine by 2026
Construction and skilled trade workers today have the best chances of quickly saving for their own housing. According to new calculations, some specialists will need less than three years to buy a one-bedroom apartment, while workers in low-paid professions will have to save for decades. This is indicated by a joint study by OLX Work and OLX Real Estate.
Which professions allow for the fastest purchase of an apartment in Ukraine in 2026
For calculations, analysts used the median cost of a one-bedroom apartment in the secondary market in May 2026 - 50 thousand dollars. Salaries were converted into dollars at the exchange rate of 44 hryvnias per dollar.
The fastest way to save for housing is for plasterers. With a median salary of 70,000 UAH, they will need about 2.6 years.
Other professions that can purchase an apartment in less than four years include:
- Facade workers.
- Bricklayers.
- Tilers.
- Long-distance drivers.
- Body fillers.
- Builders.
- Site managers.
- Installers.
- Excavator operators.
- Auto electricians.
- Car painters.
- Plumbers.
According to experts' calculations, drivers, auto mechanics, painters, and dentists will need approximately 4.6 years, while taxi drivers and welders will need almost five years.
Which professions will take the longest to save
For representatives of the social sphere and a number of service professions, the path to owning their own home has turned out to be significantly longer.
Housekeepers, nurses, promoters, and animators will have to save for over 10 years. Dishwashers will accumulate for about 11 years, caregivers for nearly 12 years, cleaners for approximately 13 years, and janitors for around 15 years.
The longest wait for their own housing will be for security guards. With a median salary of 7,250 UAH, saving for a one-bedroom apartment could take about 25 years.
Maria Abdullina, the director of the OLX Work division, explained that high incomes in construction and skilled trades are related to the stable demand for qualified workers and a sharp shortage of personnel in the Ukrainian labor market.
To remind, analysts at OLX Work released data on the seasonal labor market in Ukraine at the beginning of summer. The highest median salaries were recorded for chefs - 33,000 UAH per month, and for drivers - 32,000 UAH per month.
