IAEA: Repairs of the power line began at the Zaporizhzhia NPP
Today, November 7, a local ceasefire has been established near the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) to begin necessary repair work to strengthen the plant's connection to the electricity grid and avoid a nuclear accident. This was reported by IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, according to 'Glavkom'.Two weeks after the restoration of external power supply, preparatory work has started near the broken 'Ferosplavna-1' power line with a voltage of 330 kilovolts, to restore its connection to the power plant after a six-month break. Technical specialists plan to start repairs in the coming days to ensure access to the electricity grid. In addition, the IAEA team will monitor the work, similar to last month. The ZNPP has not produced electricity for three years due to reactor shutdowns, but power for the cooling pumps and other systems is provided through diesel generators in case of loss of external electricity supply. The agency monitors the work at the plant to prevent accidents and radiation threats.
