Nearly One Million Children Compete in Ukraine’s School Sports Leagues
Shoulder to Shoulder: National School Sports Leagues
According to Кулеба: A record-breaking 939,072 children have signed up for the third season of the nationwide initiative 'Shoulder to Shoulder: National School Sports Leagues.' This marks the highest participation level in the project’s history, as it continues to draw students into competitive athletics.
At the regional stage, 2,610 teams-comprising over 31,000 students-competed. Of these, 680 teams from 25 regions of Ukraine advanced to the national round, which includes nearly 10,000 participants. The finals are set to take place across eight Ukrainian cities, with competitions spanning 28 leagues and 12 different sports.
Mykola Kalashnyk, a project representative, stated: 'Shoulder to Shoulder: National School Sports Leagues.'
This initiative plays a key role in promoting physical activity among Ukrainian youth. The involvement of over 939,000 children reflects a growing enthusiasm for sports within schools. Beyond building athletic skills, the project fosters teamwork, discipline, and a healthy lifestyle-values especially important in today’s environment. The upcoming final competitions highlight the increasing popularity of such programs across the country.
