McDonald's in Mykolaiv: Resuming operations after the war
The company explained that the opening of the restaurant was planned after the reopening of restaurants in Odesa in 2023. However, the situation worsened significantly after the destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant, leading to water supply problems.
The CEO of McDonald's in Ukraine, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia, Yuliya Badritydinova noted that the company was waiting for stable water quality inspection results after the construction of a new water pipeline. Only after that could the restaurant resume operations.
With the opening of the establishment in the city, more than 100 new jobs have been created.
In the first two weeks, the restaurant will operate with a limited menu:
-
no breakfast served
-
delivery will be available approximately in two weeks.
Working hours:
-
dining area – from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM
-
McDrive – from 5:00 AM to 11:30 PM.

The establishment is equipped with a generator for uninterrupted operations during power outages. During air alerts, the restaurant temporarily suspends service, and employees and visitors move to shelters.
At the same time, employees receive full pay even during downtimes due to alerts.
A Mobile Order service is also available in Mykolaiv:
-
orders are made through the app
-
payment can be made online
-
pickup – no queues in the restaurant.
The reopened establishment has become the 125th restaurant in the network in Ukraine.
McDonald's continues to expand even during the war. By the end of 2025, the company reported 21.3 billion UAH in revenue, which is a 26.6% increase compared to the previous year. Net profit grew by 21.3% and amounted to 1.567 billion UAH.
It is worth noting that the Dutch branch of McDonald's tried to use artificial intelligence to create a Christmas advertisement, but faced a real PR disaster. The advertisement titled "The Worst Time of the Year," which was completely generated by neural networks, was quickly removed after a strong negative reaction from viewers.
