In Cherkasy, the fare for minibuses has increased for the third time since the beginning of 2026, and now the cost of bus rides depends on the payment method. Passengers pay 33 UAH in cash or 30 UAH by bank card through a validator. This is reported by Suspilne Cherkasy.
Fare in Cherkasy: How Much Daily Trips Cost in November 2026
The difference between cash and cashless payment is 3 UAH per trip. For those who travel to work and back every day, this is a savings of 6 UAH per day.
Based on the calculation for two trips over 22 working days, expenses will amount to:
- 1452 UAH per month with cash payment;
- 1320 UAH per month with card payment;
- 132 UAH savings using the validator.
These amounts are calculated for one passenger without transfers. Each additional paid trip will increase expenses according to the chosen payment method.
The increase has caused various reactions among the residents. Some interviewed retirees mentioned that due to high costs, they walk more often. Meanwhile, other passengers consider the fare adjustment understandable due to rising fuel prices.
The discussion about fares also took place in the city council. Deputies previously considered but did not support a petition to reduce the fare to 20 UAH.
Cherkasy Minibus Fares: Why Carriers Asked for 38 UAH in 2026
The head of the city Department of Road Transport Infrastructure and Ecology, Serhiy Otryeshko, explained the price increase by the rising costs for carriers. According to him, when preparing calculations, diesel cost 94 UAH per liter, but by the time the decision was made, it was already 108 UAH.
The difference between the prices mentioned by the official is 14 UAH, or approximately 14.9%. This is a calculation based on the data provided by him, not an indicator of the average diesel price in Ukraine.
Carriers requested to set the fare at 38 UAH. Otryeshko does not rule out further price increases, but the new approved price above 30–33 UAH is not mentioned in the material.
To more accurately verify the justification of fares, the city plans to introduce video monitoring of passenger flow. Currently, up to 70% of passengers use electronic tickets. The city will use its own data on the number of trips to check the carriers' calculations.
The rise in fuel prices also affects fares in other cities: specifically, the fare in Malyn has increased to 25 UAH. There, carriers also cited increased costs for spare parts, repairs, and maintenance.
