New documents confirm that the Mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, has obtained Russian citizenship. The information regarding his possession of Russian citizenship is supported by extracts from official registers of Russia and responses from federal authorities to requests. A court ruling has confirmed the legitimacy of Trukhanov's Russian passport.
However, despite this, Trukhanov himself denies the fact of possessing Russian citizenship and considers the decision to deprive him of his Ukrainian citizenship a 'falsification'.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on the deprivation of citizenship for some individuals who hold Russian citizenship, including the Mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov.
