Ukraine and Britain on new sanctions against Russia: meeting details
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha and Deputy Head of the President's Office Ihor Brusylov held a meeting with representatives of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the UK Parliament.
'I am glad to start my visit to London with a meeting together with Ihor Brusylov with the Foreign Affairs Committee of the UK Parliament, chaired by Emily Thornberry, as well as with members of the bipartisan parliamentary groups that deal with Ukraine issues. We focused on the steps necessary to achieve a just and comprehensive peace, strengthening sanctions against Russia, and moving toward the full use of its frozen assets,' Sybiha noted.
'I highly appreciate the strong bipartisan support for Ukraine in the UK Parliament and the numerous decisions aimed at strengthening our state and holding the aggressor accountable. I emphasized the important role of parliamentary diplomacy and thanked British MPs for their unwavering solidarity and the leadership of the United Kingdom in supporting Ukraine,'
he added.
During the visit to London, Ukrainian officials discussed important cooperation issues between Ukraine and the UK, particularly regarding the situation in Eastern Ukraine and supporting the Ukrainian state in the fight against aggression from Russia. The discussions also covered support for Ukraine in international matters and joint steps for peace and stability in the region.
