Sybiga in Paris: Ukraine and France agreed to strengthen air defense and sanctions

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga held talks in Paris with French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot.

'Thank you, France, for being our close ally and reliable partner. I greatly appreciate Minister Barrot's personal leadership and confirmation that France remains committed to supporting Ukraine and increasing pressure on Russia.

During the negotiations, the situation on the battlefield and the damage to our energy system caused by Russian terrorist attacks were discussed. The priority needs of Ukraine in the defense sector, particularly in the air defense area, were also highlighted.

Support for the Peace Process and Exchange of Views

The focus was on joint efforts to advance the peace process and the future security guarantee system for Ukraine. It was emphasized that EU membership is an important element of future security guarantees for Ukraine.

Participants also discussed steps to strengthen sanctions against Russia, particularly regarding its shadow fleet, as well as the expected decision on allowing the full use of frozen Russian assets.

Andriy Sybiga expressed gratitude to France and the French people for their unwavering support for Ukraine in humanitarian, military, and energy spheres, as well as for their active support in international organizations.
He also expressed gratitude to his colleague for joint efforts to return deported Ukrainian children and to establish child rights protection centers in Kharkiv and Dnipro. The minister stressed that together they are shaping a just peace for Ukraine and a safe future for all of Europe.

In the talks, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister and his French counterpart discussed important cooperation issues, especially in the context of supporting Ukraine during the conflict with Russia and advancing the peace process in the region.
