Mechanism for Returning Servicemen to the Armed Forces of Ukraine

According to ХВИЛЯ: The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has published a mechanism for the return of servicemen who left their units without permission back to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This decision aims to simplify the process of reintegrating military personnel into service and ensure their return to the army.

Main Ways of Returning

There are three main ways to return:

  • in person to the Military Law Enforcement Service (VSP),
  • directly to the reserve battalion,
  • via the 'Army+' application.

A serviceman has 24 hours after confirmation in the application to arrive at the VSP office. This helps reduce the time for return and provides a quick response to the situation.

According to Article 401 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, a military personnel can avoid criminal liability for the first offense related to leaving the unit without permission. The commander of the reserve battalion issues an order for the enlistment of the serviceman within three days, facilitating the process of their reinstatement in the service. Registration for food supply occurs immediately in the reserve battalion, which is an important aspect to ensure the living conditions of servicemen during their return.

The process of returning to the Armed Forces, according to the new rules, not only promotes the reinstatement of military personnel but also ensures their basic needs, such as housing, food, and service status. This is an important step in the efforts of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine to support personnel and maintain the combat readiness of the army.

The implemented mechanism for returning servicemen is significant in the context of enhancing the morale of the army and ensuring its personnel stability. In conditions of active hostilities, it is essential to have the ability to quickly restore the strength of the Armed Forces while also supporting those who may have found themselves in difficult life circumstances. The reaction of the Ministry of Defense to these challenges indicates a commitment to improving the conditions of service and increasing the level of accountability among military personnel.
