Tragedy in Dubai: Indian fighter jet crashes at airshow, pilot killed
At one of the largest aviation events in the world - the airshow in Dubai - a tragedy occurred: the Indian fighter jet HAL Tejas crashed during a flight in front of spectators. The pilot was killed. This was reported by Glavkom, referencing Reuters.
According to eyewitnesses, the aircraft was performing a demonstration flight for no more than 10 minutes, made several loops, after which it began to lose altitude and, despite attempts to stabilize, fell to the ground around 14:15 local time. Footage from the scene shows black smoke and a fireball. Emergency services arrived within minutes.
Response from authorities and services
The Indian Air Force has already established an investigative committee to determine the causes of the crash. The Dubai government also announced that they have taken full control of the situation at the site, however, the UAE Aviation Authority has not yet commented on whether a separate investigation will be conducted.
Despite the fact that demonstrations at airshows are traditionally considered safe, this disaster became the first in the history of the Dubai airshow and struck a blow to the reputation of the Indian aviation industry.
Other aviation incidents
Recall that a medical helicopter crashed on Highway 50 in Sacramento. As a result of the aviation accident, three people suffered serious injuries.
