A significant portion of these individuals found themselves in captivity after an unsuccessful attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and some, including those who surrendered out of fear of shelling. Among the captives, there are also those who may be arrested or have their property confiscated for contract violations, often these individuals become residents of occupied territories or citizens of other countries.

According to the spokesperson of the military operation, the situation with Russian soldiers at the front reflects the well-known phrase 'We do not leave our own... we set our own up.' In addition to this, enemy agents are trying to use special agents for reconnaissance purposes, however, the Ukrainian side is successfully countering these infiltration attempts, destroying more than 70% of 'disposables' with the help of drones and artillery.
