Ukraine's National Bank to Issue New 200-Hryvnia Note Featuring Patriotic Slogan in 2026

New 200 hryvnia with patriotic slogan
Національний банк України планує випустити оновлену банкноту номіналом 200 гривень з патріотичним гаслом у 2026 році.

Modified 200-Hryvnia Banknotes to Enter Circulation

According to ХВИЛЯ: The National Bank of Ukraine will begin circulating modified 200-hryvnia banknotes featuring a patriotic slogan on February 25, 2026. These new notes will be legal tender alongside the older versions, and all individuals and businesses across the country will be required to accept them without restriction. This update is part of a broader, ongoing redesign of Ukraine's currency that began in 2024.

The reverse side of the new note will display the phrase 'GLORY TO UKRAINE! GLORY TO THE HEROES!' in the upper right corner. All other design elements and security features will remain identical to the 2019 series banknotes. Citizens will not need to specifically exchange older notes for the modified ones, as both versions will circulate simultaneously.

National Currency Update Process

The distribution of the new banknotes to banks and cash-in-transit companies will commence on February 25, 2026. The national currency renewal process, which started in August 2024, has already seen the introduction of the patriotic slogan on 500, 1000, 50, and 20-hryvnia denominations. The National Bank will announce the release timeline for the modified 100-hryvnia note at a later date.

The introduction of these new notes is part of a nationwide campaign aimed at strengthening national identity and supporting patriotic spirit. This move also reflects the National Bank's effort to adapt the financial system to contemporary challenges, including those stemming from the ongoing conflict and its societal impact. Further design changes may signal the bank's intent to maintain stability and trust in the national currency amid a shifting economic landscape.
