Drone Strike Ignites Kuban Oil Depot for Second Time in June
Blaze at Poltavskaya Oil Depot
According to Главком: For the second time this month, a drone attack has set fire to the Poltavskaya oil depot, operated by JSC Poltavskaya, in the Krasnodar region’s Poltavskaya stanitsa. Currently, three storage tanks are ablaze. The facility lies 80 kilometers west of Krasnodar and roughly 385 kilometers from the front lines. Its tank farm holds 28 reservoirs with a combined capacity of 14,950 cubic meters.
This depot receives petroleum products from Lukoil’s refineries and distributes them through its own network of 34 conventional and 9 multi-fuel filling stations operating under the PNB brand. Notably, on June 16, the same site caught fire following a nighttime drone raid. That day, 32 personnel and seven pieces of equipment were deployed to extinguish the flames. In the aftermath, the road between the stanitsa and the Trudobelikovsky khutor was temporarily closed.
Strikes on Oil Infrastructure
On June 6, a branch of the company was targeted in Ust-Labinsk, where the resulting fire spread across roughly 5,000 square meters. Since the start of 2026, the Krasnodar region has endured over ten attacks on its oil infrastructure. These strikes include:
- Four hits on Tuapse;
- An assault on the Novorossiysk oil depot;
- Attacks on facilities in the Labinsk district.
Additionally, on June 16, Ukrainian drones struck the Moscow Refinery in Kapotnya.
These incidents highlight an escalating crisis in the region, where refining infrastructure faces severe threats. The rising frequency of attacks on oil depots and refineries in Krasnodar Krai could lead to significant economic repercussions, particularly for fuel supply stability and pricing. As tensions mount, monitoring these developments is crucial, given their potential to impact energy security not only in Russia but also in neighboring countries.
The recent drone strikes in the Krasnodar region are part of a broader pattern of attacks targeting oil infrastructure. For instance, just days before the incident at the Poltavskaya depot, another facility suffered severe damage from a drone attack, underscoring the escalating threats to energy resources in the area.
