Ukraine's Central Bank Issues 'Land of Superheroes' Coin to Honor Its Weapons Makers

New Commemorative Coin Unveiled

According to НБУ: The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has unveiled a new commemorative coin titled 'Land of Superheroes. Thank You, Weapons Makers!' to honor the nation's defense industry workers. The 5-hryvnia coin is minted in nickel silver, with a mintage of up to 75,000 pieces. The presentation was led by NBU Deputy Governor Oleksii Shaban.

The coin's release coincided with Ukraine's Day of the Defense Industry Worker, which was observed yesterday. During the ceremony, Oleksii Shaban underscored the critical role of Ukrainian weapons producers in meeting contemporary military challenges. He highlighted that a significant and growing portion of the weaponry used on the front lines is now domestically manufactured.

'Despite the extremely difficult conditions-as our weapons are created in combat zones, under missile, drone, and artillery fire-the defense-industrial complex has demonstrated an ability to rapidly adapt to challenges and implement innovations that directly impact the course of hostilities.' The coin's obverse features a traditional Ukrainian embroidery pattern that transitions into a 'pixelated' design, with the inscription 'Thank You, Weapons Makers!' at the bottom. The reverse depicts a Ukrainian weapons maker focused on creating one of today's most effective weapons-an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

Shaban further emphasized that Ukrainian enterprises are supplying security and defense forces with a wide range of modern equipment, including:

• Ground robotic systems
• Artillery ammunition
• Armored vehicles
• High-precision missile weaponry
• Electronic warfare systems

He noted that the successful experience of Ukrainian arms developers is being closely studied abroad, as their innovations have already proven their effectiveness on the battlefield. This domestic production effort is a key component of Ukraine's wartime resilience.

The new commemorative coin will be available for purchase in May through the NBU's numismatic product online store and via authorized distributor banks. It serves as a symbol of gratitude and recognition for those who work tirelessly every day to ensure Ukraine's defense capability.
