Black ice caused 20 road accidents on the Kyiv-Zhytomyr highway: details of the incidents

This morning, November 24, a bad incident occurred on the road from Kyiv to Zhytomyr due to black ice. Witnesses recorded several accidents during the movement. The public 'Kyiv info' published the corresponding video, reports the portal 'Glavcom'.

Widespread information confirms that around 20 car accidents happened due to black ice on the highway. Witnesses are convinced that it was the black ice that caused these accidents.

Despite everything, forecasts predict black ice on the roads in the western part of the country, and a strong wind (15-20 m/s) in the Carpathians. A low level of danger has been announced - yellow. Meteorologists warn of possible obstacles on the roads due to weather conditions.

Accident statistics on the roads of Ukraine

From the beginning of the year until April 2025, there have been 6736 car accidents with victims and injuries in Ukraine. This averages 56 serious accidents daily, which is 4% more than the same period in 2024. In the first four months of 2025, 815 people died, and 8330 people were injured.

In the town of Brovary in the Kyiv region, the police are investigating the circumstances of the car accident involving the driver of a Lada vehicle. The collision occurred during an overtaking maneuver.
