New mechanisms for housing acquisition: what the housing reform bill offers

It proposes a large-scale housing reform that will solve the problem of queues for state housing. The law includes new mechanisms for obtaining housing, including social rental and a social housing fund.

More than 600 thousand Ukrainians have been waiting in apartment queues for decades, and these are only the figures from 2015. The war has further exacerbated this issue, as we have a colossal number of internally displaced persons who also need improved housing conditions.

The law also complies with the requirements of the Ukraine Facility program, which will allow Ukraine to receive 300 million euros. After its second reading approval, new mechanisms for obtaining housing will come into force, which will be available to low-income citizens and help address the issue of unoccupied apartment buildings.

The approved housing policy bill addresses the urgent issues of housing queues in the country and proposes new approaches to providing housing for the population, including for low-income citizens. Such a housing reform is of strategic importance for Ukraine and will contribute to improving the living conditions of Ukrainians.
