According to ХВИЛЯ: Ukraine has begun issuing vehicles with new DI and ED series license plates, which are not tied to any specific geographic region. This development is part of a broader digital transformation of the country's vehicle registration services. The introduction of these plates aims to improve access to administrative services and simplify the overall process of registering a vehicle.

Understanding the New License Plate Series

The DI series is assigned to cars when their re-registration or certificate exchange was completed entirely online via the Diia app. This approach allows vehicle owners to save significant time and effort, as all procedures can be handled electronically. Meanwhile, the ED series is issued if the owner processed their documents through the Electronic Driver's Cabinet. This also promotes the development of e-services and user convenience.

Ukraine's Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has clarified that these new plates are directly linked to the expansion of digital government services. To obtain them, users must authenticate themselves in the online services using an electronic signature. This move represents a significant step forward in the digitization of vehicle registration within Ukraine.
