According to hvylya.net: Italy's Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini criticized French President Emmanuel Macron for his support of the idea of sending European troops to Ukraine for security purposes. Salvini dismissed such a possibility and sarcastically suggested that Macron himself should go to Ukraine with a weapon.

'Italian soldiers in Ukraine? Absolutely not. If Emmanuel Macron wants this, let him go himself. Put on a helmet, take a rifle and go to Ukraine yourself,'

These statements led to diplomatic consequences - the French Foreign Ministry summoned the Italian ambassador Emanuela D'Alessandro for explanations. The French side expressed dissatisfaction with such statements, believing that they harm mutual trust and 'contradict historical relations' between the states.

Dispute between Salvini and Macron

This is not the first case of conflict between Salvini and Macron. In March, Salvini had already made a 'crazy' statement regarding Macron and accused him of trying to drag Europe into military conflicts, while Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also expressed skepticism about the idea of deploying peacekeeping forces in Ukraine.

Ukraine has become the object of a sharp diplomatic dispute between the Italian and French leaders. Macron's proposal to send European troops to Ukraine provoked a sharp response from Salvini, who expressed his distrust and sarcasm regarding this idea.
