Water Supply Crisis in Occupied Donbas

According to glavcom.ua: The situation with water supply in the occupied territories of Donetsk, Makiivka, and Mariupol has become critical. Expert Kyrylo Sazonov stated that Russian promises to restore water pipelines have no chance of realization due to infrastructure destruction and environmental issues caused by the occupation.

They want to replace the pipes for the water supply, but this alone is not enough. The capture of Slavyansk will not save the situation due to the destruction of the channel that provided water to the region. Moreover, environmental problems also play a significant role in the water crisis in the occupied territories.

Residents complain that there has been no water for months.

Suspicions of water theft are causing even more conflict situations. Humanitarian aid from Russia does not help solve the alarming water supply problem in the occupied territories.

Threat of Epidemics

After the spring hostilities in 2022, critical infrastructure was damaged, leading to a humanitarian crisis regarding water supply in the occupied territories. The controlling authorities failed to restore stable water supply, which currently threatens an outbreak of epidemics due to lack of access to clean water.

A serious water supply crisis has emerged in the occupied area of Donbas, the main causes of which are infrastructure destruction and environmental issues. Efforts by the authorities to resolve this problem have so far been unsuccessful, jeopardizing an outbreak of epidemics due to insufficient clean water.
