The Occupied Territories of Ukraine: Which Countries Would Lose Similar Regions
The German magazine Katapult, which focuses on cartography and social sciences, created an infographic about the territories occupied by Russia in Ukraine. In total, these lands amount to 114,500 km², highlighted in red on the map. To visually demonstrate the scale of these territories, the editorial compared them with well-known regions of other countries.
The infographic shows how the occupation of Ukrainian lands compares to similar territories in France, Germany, Italy, Poland, the USA, and other countries. The areas marked in red on the maps illustrate the relationship between the size of the occupied lands in Ukraine and the territories of other countries.
Interestingly, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he had the opportunity to discuss territorial issues quite constructively with US President Donald Trump and his team for the first time.
Zelensky stated that Ukraine would not agree to exchange territories with the Russian Federation. Meanwhile, US Vice President Jay D. Vance stated that Russia is attempting to seize about 6,000 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory that it does not yet control.
