Updated vaccination calendar from 2026: how vaccination will change in Ukraine

According to Міністерство Здоров'я: Starting from January 1, 2026, an updated National Calendar of Preventive Vaccinations will come into effect in Ukraine. This is an important step in the field of healthcare aimed at improving population vaccination and reducing the risks of diseases. Vaccination saves up to 5 million lives each year according to statistics from the World Health Organization (WHO), emphasizing its significance for public health.

After immunization, adverse events may occur that are observed within a 30-day period. One of the most serious reactions is a severe allergic reaction known as anaphylaxis, which occurs in approximately one case per million doses administered. This indicates that while vaccines are generally safe, it is important to be aware of possible reactions of the body.

Dangerous symptoms after vaccination

It is important to pay attention to the 'red flags' that may indicate adverse events after vaccination. Such symptoms include:

  • significant changes in the child's behavior;
  • refusal to drink;
  • fever with seizures;
  • clouding of consciousness;
  • appearance of rashes;
  • inability to bend the neck;
  • symptoms of other serious illnesses.

If these signs are observed, immediate medical assistance should be sought.

The update of the vaccination calendar is an important stage in improving the vaccination system in Ukraine and ensuring the health of the population. The changes that will come into effect from 2026 will contribute to reducing morbidity and improving the overall health status of the population.

The updated National Calendar of Preventive Vaccinations in Ukraine reflects the state's commitment to improving the health of citizens through vaccination. This can also positively impact the overall level of population immunization, which is critical for preventing outbreaks of infectious diseases. The implementation of new recommendations will require active involvement of healthcare professionals and educational campaigns to raise public awareness about the importance of vaccination.
