Maria Burmaka in despair over conversation on train: Rockets are flying at you too
Maria Burmaka, a well-known folk artist of Ukraine, shared on social media about a difficult train journey that brought her to tears. According to her, she ended up in a compartment with two elderly women who were conversing in Russian and discussing the works of Dostoevsky.
I got on the train. With me in the compartment were two women around 70. Russian language, tea, manners, Dostoevsky and all that nonsense. I said to them: how can you, rockets are flying at you too. And they replied: 'the Russian language did not attack you.' I cried in the bathroom. It hurts me so much. That's the whole conversation. I don't know how to deal with this
After Maria's story became known on social media, she received a lot of support from users who expressed understanding and sympathy. Many people noted that the situation described by the artist is an example of the lingering issues in our society after the war.
