Situation at Kyiv CHPP-5

According to ХВИЛЯ: Five rockets hit the Kyiv CHPP-5, leading to significant damage and complicating the restoration of heat supply. The strike was targeted, indicating the seriousness of the situation. Expert Oleg Popenko noted that connecting 500 buildings to the heating system will take a long time.

Restoration and consequences

The timelines for restoring the equipment at the CHPP are still unknown. According to Olexiy Kucherov, the damage is such that it complicates the restart of heat supply through the network. The heat main from CHPP-5 runs under the Paton Bridge and further branches into the right-bank residential areas, part of which goes to Pechersk, and the other to Holosiivska Square, Lybidska and further to Teremky.

The situation remains under control, but the restoration work will require time and effort.

This incident highlights the vulnerability of critical infrastructure during the conflict, which can significantly impact the city's viability.

The restoration of heat supply is an important task, as the need for warmth increases with the approaching cold, and delays in restoration may lead to social and economic consequences for the residents of Kyiv.
