Patriarch Filaret participated in the worship on the feast of the Assumption
According to the UOC-KP statement, Patriarch Filaret prayed at the Vladimir Cathedral during the all-night vigil on the eve of the feast and participated in the liturgy in the cathedral the next day, which was led by the rector.
According to glavcom.ua: 96-year-old head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate, Patriarch Filaret, participated in the worship in Kyiv dedicated to the celebration of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. His participation took place amid reports of deteriorating health, previously made by the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU).
The UOC-KP commented on the OCU's statement regarding the deterioration of the patriarch's condition, indicating that his health is satisfactory and he is undergoing scheduled examinations and treatment. Patriarch Filaret is an influential figure in the history of Ukrainian Orthodoxy, having been the main contender for the patriarchal throne in Moscow, but after Ukraine's independence, he founded the UOC of the Kyiv Patriarchate.
Patriarch Filaret joined the worship in the capital, not heeding the statements about deteriorating health. The patriarch's participation in the church rites took place within the framework of the celebration of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, showing that the influential figure of Ukrainian Orthodoxy remains active in the life of the church.
