During the question hour to the government in the Verkhovna Rada, Minister of Social Policy, Family and Solidarity Denys Uliutin announced plans for indexation. According to him, the Pension Fund budget for 2026 will exceed UAH 1.2 trillion, allowing full indexation to be carried out.
Pensions from March 1, 2026: who and how much payments will be increased
Indexation by 12.1% will cover all pension recipients. In 2026, the average pension is projected to be around UAH 6.5 thousand. At the same time, over 4.3 million pensioners currently receive payments lower than UAH 6 thousand, and this category will be key for further changes.
After indexation, the increase will affect:
-
pensioners of retirement age;
-
persons with disabilities;
-
pensioners with seniority;
-
other categories in the solidarity system.
Pension reform of the Ministry of Social Policy: minimum pension 6 thousand hryvnias
The Ministry of Social Policy is also preparing pension system reform. It provides for a basic guaranteed pension of no less than UAH 6 thousand, a solidarity part with a direct link between paid contributions and the amount of payments, as well as the introduction of professional pensions instead of special ones.
«The main task of the new pension system is its balance. Currently, there is one working person for one non-working person, which is a better figure than before», — emphasized Denys Uliutin. The draft law is planned to be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada as a matter of priority.
Let us remind you that the Pension Fund announced automatic supplements in 2026: who will receive up to UAH 570.
