Clarification from Ukraine's Pension Fund on Identity Verification for Pensioners

According to Пенсії (RSS): Ukraine's Pension Fund has issued guidance on in-person identity verification for pensioners temporarily living overseas or in temporarily occupied areas, along with the process for scheduling a video-based identity check. These individuals receive pension payments only if they complete this verification by December 31 of each calendar year.

According to the Pension Fund, pensioners who already underwent in-person identity verification in 2026 do not need to repeat the process until the end of that year. This clarification is especially relevant for those seeking answers about whether re-verification is required. For instance, pensioners and their relatives often ask:

“I am a pensioner temporarily residing abroad and completed identity verification in February of this year. Do I need to do it again before December 31?”

On the Pension Fund's electronic services web portal, users with pensioner status can access a feature called 'My Identification.' This service displays the date of the most recent identity check and the method used. If a pensioner has never undergone verification, the corresponding fields in the service will remain blank.

How to Schedule a Video Identification Session

To book an in-person identity verification via video conference, no qualified electronic signature is needed. Applicants simply fill out an online request form under the tab 'Application for Identification via Video Conference.' For further information or assistance, pensioners can contact the Pension Fund's Call Center at:

  • 0 800 503 753
  • (044) 281-08-70
  • (044) 281-08-71

These updates aim to simplify the verification process for pensioners who cannot be physically present in Ukraine for various reasons. Video tutorials on how to schedule an identification session are available on YouTube, further improving access to information for all interested parties.

Ensuring that pensioners living abroad or in temporarily occupied territories can complete in-person identity verification is a crucial step in safeguarding their right to receive pension payments. The availability of video identification services streamlines the process and makes it more accessible for those unable to be in Ukraine. This also reflects the Pension Fund's efforts to adopt modern technologies to meet citizens' needs.
