Funding for Social Benefits in Ukraine

According to Пенсії (RSS): The Pension Fund of Ukraine has released its latest funding and service data for March. As of March 24, the Fund has provided over 1.35 million services to citizens who applied for assistance.

By March 24, a total of 89.4 billion hryvnias had been allocated for social payments. The largest portion, 72.0 billion hryvnias, was for pension disbursements. These pension payments were distributed through two main channels:

  • 9.7 billion hryvnias were paid via the national postal service, JSC 'Ukrposhta';
  • 62.3 billion hryvnias were paid through authorized banks.

Other significant allocations included 4.6 billion hryvnias for housing subsidies and benefits, and 3.3 billion hryvnias for insurance payments. Of this insurance sum, 2.1 billion hryvnias covered sick leave compensation. An additional 9.5 billion hryvnias was spent on state aid and other social benefits.

This data indicates stability in the financing of Ukraine's social safety net, a critical factor given the country's ongoing economic challenges. Maintaining these payments is a key government priority during the war.

The high volume of services provided and the substantial funding for pensions confirm that the social protection system remains operational. This system is vital for supporting vulnerable populations during a difficult period. The allocation of funds across various categories also demonstrates the state's attention to the diverse needs of its citizens.
