Crossing the border from Poland by train will become faster for Ukrainians
Ukrainians traveling to Poland by train will be able to pass border and customs control much faster starting from January: document verification will take place directly in the carriages while the train is moving towards the border. This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
The new format will start on two popular international routes and is expected to significantly reduce waiting times at checkpoints.
Expedited control in trains
According to Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, the updated procedure is intended to enhance the comfort and predictability of travel. Starting from the beginning of the year, the new regime will be in effect on key routes:
Kyiv — Przemyśl
Every month, more than 130,000 Ukrainians use these routes, so the expedited control is expected to reduce the load on border crossings where delays traditionally occur.
Expansion plan of the practice
The government notes that after technical and organizational adjustments, the inspection model in motion will be extended to other international routes. In the future, this will also apply to night trains with sleeping carriages. The introduction of expedited procedures is part of a broader strategy to simplify travel and integrate the Ukrainian railway system with EU standards.
Earlier, we reported that Ukrzaliznytsia announced the acceleration of the direct train Kyiv-Warsaw by more than two hours.
