Reimbursement for War Risk Insurance Costs

According to Мін. Економіки: A total of 6.8 million hryvnias has been paid out to four Ukrainian enterprises to cover the cost of insuring their property against war-related hazards. The average insurance rate has dropped from 4.24% to 1.19% as a result of this initiative. Operating since January 2026, the program is part of the broader 'Made in Ukraine' policy framework designed to bolster domestic business resilience.

These reimbursements were distributed through the private joint-stock company Export Credit Agency (ECA). Minister Oleksiy Sobolev commented:

“War risks remain one of the biggest hurdles for businesses in Ukraine. The state is stepping in to help companies reduce the expense of insuring their property against this threat.”

Compensation Program Details

The program offers two main forms of support:

  • Direct compensation for losses sustained by enterprises located in frontline regions;
  • Partial reimbursement of insurance premiums for businesses operating anywhere across Ukraine.

This initiative marks a significant step in backing Ukrainian businesses, especially given that war risks severely complicate commercial operations. By lowering the cost of insurance, it aims to enhance financial stability for companies, which in turn supports the country’s economic development during wartime.

As the government continues to support local businesses amidst ongoing challenges, it is crucial for enterprises to be aware of the measures available to document their losses effectively. Starting April 29, companies will have the opportunity to officially record damages incurred due to the conflict with Russia, which can play a vital role in securing necessary compensations.
