Fans, despite Atletico's victory with a score of 1:0, stormed the field and started clashing with law enforcement. A brawl broke out as authorities tried to demonstrate peaceful coexistence by allowing fans of both teams to attend the match.

The mayor of Medellin, Federico Gutierrez, called the provocateurs 'unsuitable individuals' and noted that everyone who participated in the riots is responsible for their actions.

Groups of aggressive fans began to act destructively, destroying their own properties and using pyrotechnics. The police were forced to take measures to prevent field intrusion and protect spectators. During the searches, more than 120 kilograms of pyrotechnics and other dangerous equipment were seized.

Ceremony of award canceled

Due to the serious riots, the ceremony for awarding the winners of the Colombian Cup was canceled. Security Secretary Manuel Villa emphasized that the aggressive behavior of radical fans was the main cause of the conflict, not flaws in the security system.

The ultras of 'Alexandria' expressed their motives regarding provocations during home matches of the team. Representatives of the ultras explained the use of pyrotechnics as a form of support for their team and expressed disagreement with the fine imposed on the club due to these events.
