The USA has charged the murder of a Ukrainian: prosecutors demand the death penalty
According to glavcom.ua: The U.S. Department of Justice has filed federal charges against Dekarlos Brown, who is suspected of murdering Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska on a train in Charlotte. Prosecutors will demand the highest penalty – the death penalty. According to CNN, 34-year-old Dekarlos Brown faces the death penalty if convicted of this crime.
It is reported that in addition to the federal charge, authorities in North Carolina have also charged him with first-degree murder. According to court testimony, Brown used a knife that was found near the crime scene. Brown's attorneys may attempt to prove that he was in a state of mental illness during the attack.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump accused the Democrats' policy of rising crime and expressed his opinion on the murder of Iryna Zarutska. He stated that Democratic mayors govern the most dangerous cities in America and allow criminals to hunt innocent people.
Trump also questioned why the murderer was at large. He placed the responsibility for Zarutska's death on the Democrats and Roy Cooper, the former governor. The politician believes that only Republicans can ensure law and order in North Carolina and across the country.
