Six-Year Restoration Complete: UNESCO Church in Zhovkva Opens Its Doors Anew

The Church of the Holy Trinity Welcomes Visitors Once More

According to Рубрика — Суспільство: After six years of conservation efforts, a wooden church bearing UNESCO World Heritage status in the town of Zhovkva is open again. Known as the Church of the Holy Trinity, the building dates back to 1720 and is recognized as part of a larger group of historic wooden churches in the Carpathian region. Restoration tasks included:

• renewing the church's roof,
• strengthening its structural frame,
• and carrying out conservation work on the wall paintings and the historic iconostasis.

The restoration project came with a price tag of roughly 12 million Ukrainian hryvnias. Funding and support were provided by Ukraine's Ministry of Culture, the Borys Voznytskyi Lviv National Art Gallery, the Polish heritage institute Polonika, and a team of Ukrainian conservators.
