The train «Intercity» on the route Kyiv–Kharkiv has temporarily restricted its service and currently only reaches Poltava-Primorskaya station. Passengers are offered a transfer for further travel to Kharkiv. This is reported by Ukrzaliznytsia.

Intercity Kyiv Kharkiv: how the train route has changed

Ukrzaliznytsia explained that the restrictions are temporary. Currently, high-speed trains only run to Poltava, and further passengers can reach Kharkiv through connecting routes in sleeping cars.

Key changes:

  • train IC No. 722 operates only to Poltava-Primorskaya

  • then a transfer to other trains is organized

  • tickets remain valid without exchange.

Passengers are promised assistance from conductors and station staff during the transfer.

Intercity train restrictions: reasons and recovery terms

The reason for the changes was problems with power supply and the consequences of military actions. On the section between Poltava and Kharkiv, trains had to use diesel locomotives, which caused delays of up to three hours.

On some days, trains arrived late even after the start of the curfew, creating additional risks for passengers.

Currently, restoration work is underway on the route, and security measures have been intensified. Movement on damaged sections is also conducted with significant speed restrictions.

Ukrzaliznytsia reported that full train operation of Intercity to Kharkiv is planned to be restored by the end of March. Until then, minor delays are possible even on the updated route.

It should be noted that Ukrzaliznytsia is losing 22 billion on passengers.
