Senior police inspector spotted assisting soldiers in fleeing abroad
A senior police inspector from Kyiv turned out to be involved in a scheme for smuggling soldiers abroad. The details of this operation's failure were revealed by the State Bureau of Investigation.
According to the SBI, the law enforcement officer primarily transported 'clients' from Kyiv to the area near the border with Romania for 6 thousand euros per person. The payment was made before the departure of his accomplice, who also participated in this criminal case.
'The police officer pretended while going on the route, changed license plates, and installed beacons in the car that gave him an advantage on the road. In case of a check, he showed his service ID, using the excuse that he was transporting officials on an important task. To avoid detection, all passengers were also dressed in police uniforms,' the SBI reported.
The situation was uncovered on August 23, 2025, when law enforcement stopped a group of fugitives along with the police officer at the border with Bukovina. After checking the documents, they compiled reports for violations and issued summonses.
The senior inspector is suspected of serious legal violations, specifically aiding in the smuggling of several persons across the border. Such actions under part 2 of article 332 of the Criminal Code may lead to 7 years of imprisonment. The investigation of this case is being handled by the Chernivtsi regional prosecutor's office.
After the revelation of the scandalous scheme for smuggling soldiers abroad, it turned out that one of the accomplices was a senior police inspector. His hidden activities were exposed by the State Bureau of Investigation, and now this case is under the control of the regional prosecutor's office.
