Over 435 thousand Ukrainians underwent rehabilitation in 2025: key achievements of the program

According to Міністерство Здоров'я: This year, over 435 thousand Ukrainians received the opportunity to undergo rehabilitation thanks to the Medical Guarantee Program 'Development of the Rehabilitation Assistance System'. This project is an important part of the National Strategy for the creation of a barrier-free space in Ukraine.

Almost 400 medical institutions provide free rehabilitation services in inpatient settings, while more than one and a half thousand offer them in the form of outpatient care. More than 12 thousand specialists are already working in multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams.

Significant achievements in rehabilitation

In 2025, more than 435 thousand Ukrainians took advantage of rehabilitation under the Medical Guarantee Program. Of this number, about 100 thousand are children, among whom more than 21 thousand are infants under three years old and over 76 thousand patients from three years to adulthood.

This year, standards for rehabilitation assistance for certain injuries and diseases in children have also been established. The Clinical Guideline and Burn Care Standard have been added to these standards.

With the support of the International Red Cross Committee, a prosthetic and orthotic laboratory has opened at the University Hospital of Kharkiv National Medical University, where individual prostheses and orthoses are made.

The network of prosthetic microclinics is also developing in Lviv, Poltava, and Kyiv region under grant agreements with France. This year, an electronic request for rehabilitation aids was introduced in the electronic healthcare system.

In addition, in 2025, seven centers of excellence continue to operate, providing training for multidisciplinary teams and disseminating modern practices. Specialists from these centers had the opportunity to undergo internships in 9 countries around the world and conduct training for over 40 healthcare institutions.

Ukrainians have made significant progress in the field of rehabilitation thanks to the medical guarantee program. The support of specialized clinical centers and the network of prosthetic microclinics will play an important role in this. Despite the achievements, it is important to continue to develop this field and improve the quality of medical services for all citizens of Ukraine.
