Sergii Peniuk died near Bakhmut: the story of a hero with the call sign Ziat

23-year-old sergeant Sergii Peniuk, call sign 'Ziat', died on November 1, 2023, near the village of Ivanivske in Donetsk Oblast. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing the Chernivtsi Regional Council.
Biography of the Fallen Hero
Sergii Serhiiovych Peniuk was born on July 31, 2000, in the village of Hlyboka in Chernivtsi Oblast. After losing his father at 16, he became a support for his younger brother. His mother describes him as honest, stubborn, and a bright boy who always supported the weaker ones.
Life and Military Path
He graduated from a vocational college with a degree in 'Finance, Banking, and Insurance' and dreamed of his own auto service station. In 2019, he joined the State Border Guard Service and since May 2022, he served as a driver-machine gunner on the front lines.
Sergii endured difficult conditions for a long time and witnessed his comrades dying - it was his personal tragedy.
On November 1, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission, he was killed by sniper fire. His body remained on the battlefield, and before he died, he saw his mother, brother, grandmother, and grandfather.
Communication with the enemy should not cost the lives of Ukrainian soldiers. 'Glavkom' joins in the silent tribute to all the fallen heroes who gave their lives for a free Ukraine. Eternal memory to all Ukrainians who became victims of Russian aggression.
