The Prime Minister promised teachers a salary of up to 28000 UAH from September 2026

From September 1, 2026, salaries of Ukrainian teachers are expected to increase by another 20%. After the second stage of the salary increase, experienced teachers will be able to earn up to 28.5 thousand UAH per month, but the exact amount will depend on experience, qualification, and workload. This was reported by Ukrinform citing Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky.

What salaries teachers in Ukraine will receive from September 1, 2026

During the conference "August-2026," the head of the government reminded that since January 1, the salaries of pedagogical staff have already been increased by 30%. In September, they plan to increase it by another 20%. According to the government's assessment, the overall increase compared to 2025 will be 50%.

After the review of payments, the approximate salaries will be:

  • young teacher: from 12.8 to 17.7 thousand UAH per month;

  • experienced teacher: from 16.9 to 28.5 thousand UAH per month.

«The specific amount will certainly depend on experience, qualification, and workload,» noted the Prime Minister.

At the same time, the government plans to increase the guaranteed part of the salary so that payments are less dependent on variable allowances. The Ministry of Education and Science is also working on a new payment model for teachers, which is planned to be implemented in 2027.

How schools in Ukraine are preparing for the 2026/27 academic year

By the end of 2026, around 200 underground schools are expected to operate in Ukraine. For the arrangement of shelters in kindergartens, the state has allocated 1 billion UAH for the first time.

In preparation for possible attacks on energy infrastructure, about 19.5 thousand preschool and general secondary education institutions have been equipped with generators, solar panels, or energy storage systems. An additional 220 institutions will receive equipment for operation during prolonged outages.

From September 1, free meals are planned to be provided to more than 3 million students in grades 1 to 11. The "Dream" educational system has already joined 4.4 thousand schools and 670 thousand users.
