Forced evacuation of children from Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk: what has changed on the front

According to Главком: Due to the intensification of Russian shelling in the border areas of Sumy and Kharkiv regions, Ukraine has begun the forced evacuation of children and their parents from the frontline regions of Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk. Andrii Demchenko, a spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, reported that the threat of being in settlements close to the border with Russia remains high, as these areas experience the most frequent shelling.

Russian shelling has reached the highest intensity in the border areas of Sumy and Kharkiv. The enemy increasingly uses drones, including FPV drones and devices that drop munitions. At the end of 2024, the main threat was posed by artillery strikes.

Details of the forced evacuation

The Ministry of Development of Ukraine announced the start of the forced evacuation of children from 44 frontline regions. In Zaporizhzhia region, the following is being evacuated:

  • 651 children from 4 settlements;

In Dnipropetrovsk region, 2,463 children are being evacuated from 40 settlements. These measures are aimed at ensuring the safety of children and their families amid the growing threat from the enemy.

The forced evacuation of children indicates the seriousness of the situation on the front and the increasing threat from Russian troops. The Ukrainian authorities are taking active measures to protect the most vulnerable categories of the population, particularly children, which is especially important in the context of the ongoing conflict. This also underscores the need for constant monitoring of safety in regions that are under threat of shelling.
