French biathlete Julia Simon to face trial for colleague's card fraud
French biathlete involved in scandal over colleague's bank card fraud
French biathlete Julia Simon has come under serious accusations of abusing her colleague Justine Braisaz-Bouchet's bank card. A hearing in this case will take place on October 24 in the city of Albertville, according to the publication 'Hlavkom' based on information from Dauphiné Libéré.
According to the investigation, during the Blink festival in Norway in August 2022, Julia Simon used Braisaz-Bouchet's card for online purchases amounting to between 1000 and 2000 euros, purchasing a GoPro sports camera. Additionally, the athlete is accused of another illegal use of the bank card.
In 2023, the biathlete was detained, but released after a few hours.
Simon herself claims that the order was made in her name by fraudsters, and she had nothing to do with it. The 28-year-old Julia Simon is a ten-time world champion and a silver medalist of the 2022 Beijing Olympics in the mixed relay.
