Ukrainian 'LightHome' Program: Grants for Apartment Buildings to Buy Generators
'LightHome' Program Launch
According to Міністерство інфраструктури: The Ukrainian government has launched the 'LightHome' program, opening applications for financial aid. This initiative provides grants ranging from 100,000 to 300,000 Ukrainian hryvnias for the purchase of generators. The funding is available to homeowners' associations (OSBB), housing and service cooperatives, and building managers of multi-apartment buildings, with the grant amount depending on the building's number of floors and entrances. This program is a direct response to the ongoing energy instability affecting the country.
Applications can be submitted online via the official website svitlodim.gov.ua or through the 'Diia' portal's electronic cabinet. Before applying, applicants must open a dedicated bank account for receiving and using the state funds. This account can be opened at JSC 'Oschadbank' or any other bank that joins the program. The Ministry of Development will regularly update the list of partner banks on its official resources.
Permitted Use of Funds
Grant money received through the program can be used to purchase:
- Generators (gasoline, diesel, or gas-powered)
- Power inverters
- Batteries
- High-voltage battery systems
- Solar panels
The 'LightHome' program aims to help residential communities improve their energy independence and ensure resident comfort during unstable power supply. It is part of broader government efforts to support the population during the energy crisis, which has been exacerbated by the ongoing war. By facilitating access to generators and alternative energy sources, the program seeks to strengthen critical infrastructure and reflects a global shift toward renewable energy and greater consumer energy autonomy.
