Ukrzaliznytsia will distribute a million free tickets: who will be able to travel

The 'UZ-3000' program, which provides the opportunity for free domestic train travel up to 3,000 km, stimulates the national economy, as the railway is also a part of it. Domestic transportation is unprofitable by itself, but the more people travel, the more the mobility of the population leads to GDP growth, as money circulates more actively. This was stated by the Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of 'Ukrzaliznytsia' Serhiy Leshchenko in an interview with 'Hlavkom'.

Leshchenko responded to criticism that those who would have definitely traveled and bought tickets even in the 'off-season' would benefit from the free tickets. 'Those who were going to travel for money will, of course, be able to travel for free, but overall, in the total volume of passenger transportation, this will not be critically large. We transport about 500,000 passengers a week, and under the 'UZ-3000' program, we offer 250,000 tickets per month,' said Serhiy Leshchenko.

Moreover, according to him, the initiative of free tickets will help ease the railway's load during a challenging season. Because Ukrainians can postpone their long-planned trips to the 'low' season. 'This also applies to business trips - companies can move trips to the low season and direct the saved funds to payments for their employees. Ultimately, we offer the opportunity to take a free ticket, and the saved money can be donated to the Defense Forces,' explains the Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of 'Ukrzaliznytsia'.
