Prosecutors Challenge $2.6 Million Land Development Deal Involving Ukraine's National Academy of Sciences

Lawsuit Filed by Svyatoshyn District Prosecutor's Office

According to Прокуратура Київ: The Svyatoshyn District Prosecutor's Office in Kyiv has initiated a lawsuit to challenge a development agreement for a land plot belonging to the I.M. Frantsevych Institute for Problems in Materials Science of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU). The contested contract concerns the development of an 8.14-hectare plot of land valued at over 100 million Ukrainian hryvnias (approximately $2.6 million USD). This land is located on Omelyan Pritsak Street in Kyiv's Svyatoshyn district.

According to the prosecutors, the agreement was signed between the Institute for Problems in Materials Science and a private company. A critical point of contention is that the private entity would acquire ownership rights to the real estate without a required decision from the Kyiv City State Administration. Furthermore, the contract was executed without obtaining the necessary approval from the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

In response to the prosecutor's lawsuit, the Kyiv Commercial Court has opened proceedings in the case.
