Drone Strikes Target Key Rocket Component Factory in Yelets Industrial Zone
Drone Assault Hits Energiya Factory in Yelets
According to Рубрика — Суспільство: On October 25, the industrial area of Yelets, located in Russia's Lipetsk region, was targeted in a drone attack, with the Energiya plant likely being the main objective. This facility specializes in producing power sources for missiles and aerial bombs. Among its products are the 9B280-1 power units used in 9M727 cruise missiles of the Iskander-K system, as well as 9B-287 batteries for UMPB D-30SN gliding bombs. Energiya also supplies energy modules for universal planning and correction units (UMPK), ballistic missiles of the Iskander-M series, and anti-ship missiles like the Kh-35U.
Lipetsk Governor Igor Artamonov confirmed the attack, reporting that several cruise missiles struck the area. Casualty figures remain under verification. In the early hours of October 25, drones also targeted industrial sites in the Perm region, resulting in injuries to five people. Additionally, a shopping and entertainment center called MegaGRINN in Belgorod was reportedly attacked.
Widespread Strikes Across Russian Industrial Centers
The day before, October 24, the city of Omsk experienced a large-scale assault on industrial facilities, including the chemical manufacturer Omsk Rubber and a warehouse complex of the Ozon marketplace. Explosions in Omsk triggered extensive fires. It is notable that Omsk is situated more than 2,500 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, highlighting the reach of these operations.
Recent attacks have affected multiple Russian regions, including:
- Yelets, Lipetsk Oblast
- Perm Krai
- Belgorod
- Berezniki
- Omsk
These events have raised alarm among local populations and authorities alike.
Such strikes on Russia’s industrial infrastructure reflect escalating tensions in the area and pose potential risks to national security.
The Energiya factory is a strategically vital site for military production, and damage to its operations could impact Russia’s missile manufacturing capabilities. These coordinated attacks may also indicate shifts in tactics or strategies within the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and surrounding regions. Understanding these developments is crucial for assessing the evolving security landscape in Eastern Europe.
