Has Putin lost an ally? What is happening between Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation
According to glavcom.ua: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan summoned the temporary chargé d'affaires of the Russian Federation embassy in Azerbaijan, Peter Volokov, due to attacks on Azerbaijanis in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
“The Russian side was given a sharp protest regarding the raids on June 27, 2025, by Russian security forces in the apartments of our compatriots, during which two Azerbaijanis were brutally killed, several people received serious bodily injuries, and nine people were arrested,” the statement said.
Member of the Milli Majlis Vugar Iskenderov stated that the silence of Russian officials “regarding the terrible incident against Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg” sharply contrasts with how Azerbaijanis react to minor incidents involving Russians.
According to him, although the presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia supposedly have very good personal relations, there are “forces” in Russia that are trying by any means to destroy relations between the countries and burn bridges.
Reaction of Russians
Former Ukrainian people's deputy traitor Oleg Tsarev, who fled to Russia, claimed that Azerbaijan allegedly seeks a reason for conflict. According to him, the current leader of Kazakhstan allegedly should be grateful to the Russian authorities for their help in suppressing the coup in Kazakhstan.
“The Eastern European countries that were part of the Soviet bloc have now become irreconcilable enemies of Russia,” he stated.
Tsarev underscored that many Russians demand that the authorities unleash all heavenly punishments upon Azerbaijan. At the same time, Tsarev added that conflicts with other countries are a failure of Russia's foreign policy.
Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan are demanding explanations from Russia regarding the attacks on Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg, emphasizing the need to maintain friendly relations between the countries.
